DREAM JOB – Chancery Lane Restaurant for the Scott Pickett Group
From styling a headless horseman complete with carriage and horses, to a girl in a life size Hawaiian snow dome with snow and lei, to goats!
When I was asked to style and produce the shot list to create visual imagery for Scott Pickett’s new restaurant Chancery Lane, it was like a styling dream come true. Often when working commercially as a stylist, the imagery being produced may not necessarily be the most exciting or creative work, however this food styling job demanded total creativity. It was not just working in a way to replicate the beautiful oil paintings of the Dutch Masters of the 17th Century, but also adding the quirk and the surprise that was so often hidden within these beautiful paintings. These artworks were deep and rich, compelling and sometimes repelling all at the same time. Dark and moody imagery filled with secrets, intrigue and a touch of the bizarre…yes what an amazing job!

With a week of shooting multiple styled shots, some of the work was to be used in the restaurant, some for web and some for socials…all however, a joy to create. I brought along two students from @school_of_styling_ to assist, watch and learn how a stylist works in real time. It was hard, fast paced but oh so rewarding and to be quite honest, I could not have achieved everything without their wonderful help. It’s so lovely to be able to teach the tips and tricks of the trade to students who frequent School of Styling Australia schoolofstylingsos.com but to be able to have them on a shoot is just heavenly both for me and them.
